I think most people are shocked by the recent explosion of vinyl record culture. As a collector, record shop owner, and vinyl DJ I have to say I am not.

I know what you’re thinking, of course the local record store owner wants me to sell to him instead of the internet, but hear me out a second. But nothing prepared me for the explosion of vinyl demand that happened in 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the RIAA, vinyl album sales grew by 29% in 2020, reaching $619.6 million, the highest level since 1988[^1^][1]. Vinyl also outsold CDs for the first time since the 1980s[^2^][2], and accounted for 26% of all physical music sales[^3^][3].
